Your Kingdom Come: The Beatitudes

Welcome to our series called “Your Kingdom Come.” As we journey towards Easter through Lent, we’re going to learn, or relearn, how Christ’s Kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven. To the shock and even consternation of Jesus’ original audience, He told them that the kingdom will be found amongst the most unlikely people—those described in the Beatitudes. And it’s precisely because of this totally upside-down nature of Jesus’ kingship and kingdom that His preaching began with a call to repent—to a radical change of mind. Last week we learned that the kingdom belongs to those totally dependent (on God) and that true comfort comes not to the ”happy” but the saddened mourners. Today we focus on the meek and their desire for justice.
