This is the third week in our fall series focused on our vision and values as a church. In week 1, we looked at our vision: pursuing deeper life in Christ - to be passionate pursuers of Jesus — to not just be fans but true followers. In week 2, we looked at the foundation of our vision: God’s Word. This past week, have you been growing a stronger grip on God’s Word by being in God’s Word? Memorizing it? Meditating on it?
This week, we look together at the first of our church’s four core values: Being Spirit Led. In John 14, Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth.” In John 16, Jesus expands on this saying, “when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our ‘Advocate’ and the one who will lead and guide us into truth. Later, the apostle Paul in Romans 8 talks about living life led by the Spirit, saying, “the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace” (v.6). We are led by the Spirit by being surrendered to the Spirit.
