Jesus is Lord. He died and rose again, defeated death, took our sins away, and rose again to new life forever and welcomes us into His eternal life and authority over all through trusting in Him. How do we live now, in light of this incredible reality? Before Christ, the Hebrew Scriptures – the Old Testament – defined God’s will for His people. These were called the Law, the Prophets and the Writings, often simply referred to as ‘the law.’ Jesus was accused of failing to follow God’s Law and going against God’s Will, by the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees. Against their criticism, Jesus words in our verses for this Sunday. He did not come to abolish the Law – as much as some Christians today and the Jewish back then thought. He came to fulfil it. What does that mean and what does that mean for us? Those are the questions for this week!
