Devoted to Being 'All Things'

Devoted: Church Reimagined

What mattered most to the apostle Paul was people hearing the message of the Gospel, and he knew that he was God’s medium for hearing it. So, Paul says in our passage, he devoted himself to “become all things to all people” for the sake of the Gospel and for people to come into a saving relationship with Jesus. Even though Paul considered himself free and belonging to no one — other than Christ — he was willing to become a ‘slave to everyone’ else’s culture or situation in order to reach them with the Good News of Jesus. Paul didn’t compromise ,change, or water down the message, but he adapted himself to communicate it in a way that helped others receive it. Like Paul, God wants us to be willing to change or accommodate those around us for the sake of reaching them.
